DOUBLE BED LIFTER
Conventional bed lifters were unsuitable to lift a two-part double devan which needed clearance underneath
for a mobile hoist.
Three very strong box sections were built from timber, linked with aluminium tie-rods.
The two end
boxes were cladded in thin timber strips and lined with thin foam to locate but also protect the divan edges and base. The visible
areas of the timber were painted with mahogany stain to match the other bedroom furniture. Holes were then drilled
to take the castors of the divan which refused to come off, and were inaccurately fitted to the frame (note the varying positions
of the holes in the picture, before the foam padding was added).
